Signs you might need concrete repairs in Bournemouth
- Spalling or flaking concrete on driveways, walls, or structural elements
- Rust staining bleeding through cracks or across the surface
- Cracking on public or civic structures exposed to constant weather and foot traffic
- Exposed or visibly corroding reinforcement bar (rebar)
- Surface wear that's accelerated faster than you'd expect for the structure's age
- Delamination, where the surface layer separates from the structure beneath
Coastal exposure means this kind of wear can develop faster in Bournemouth than further inland, so it's worth getting checked sooner rather than later.

Public skatepark repair
What we found: Around 10 individual areas of damage across the skatepark, ranging from 10cm² to 50cm² each, worn from constant use and weather exposure.
What's causing it: A public skatepark takes constant impact and abrasion on top of normal weather exposure, which wears down the surface faster than most concrete structures — and unlike most jobs, downtime itself was a real factor, since the park needed to reopen quickly.
What we did: A rapid-set concrete mix, on the recommendation of Resapol, was used specifically so the skatepark could reopen for use almost immediately after each repair, rather than needing the longer cure time a standard mix would require. A cure seal spray was applied to protect the finish. Completed over 2 days — a good example of the public and civic-use work we regularly carry out.
Why concrete deteriorates in Bournemouth
Bournemouth's coastal exposure means concrete structures — from driveways and retaining walls to public infrastructure — face accelerated wear from salt air and moisture. Reinforcement corrosion is the most common cause of spalling we see locally: as embedded steel rusts and expands, it cracks and pushes away the surrounding concrete, a pattern made worse by the area's proximity to the sea.
Public and civic structures, like the skatepark above, also face constant foot traffic and weather exposure, which is why fast-curing repair systems are often the right choice to minimise disruption.
Concrete repair cost in Bournemouth
In Bournemouth, the price is mostly set by how widespread and deep the damage is, the state of the reinforcement, and how accessible the structure is. Here's what actually affects the number:
- Size of the affected area — small surface repairs cost less than larger structural damage
- Public or civic use — sites needing fast-curing systems to minimise closure time can affect material choice and price
- Condition of the reinforcement steel — lightly corroded rebar can be cleaned and treated; heavier corrosion means replacing sections
- Access — ground-level repairs are straightforward; height may need scaffolding

Common questions
Do you work on public and civic structures?
Yes, we regularly carry out concrete repairs on public infrastructure such as skateparks and civic buildings, often using fast-curing repair systems to minimise closure time and disruption to public use.
How much does concrete repair cost in Bournemouth?
Pricing follows the scale and depth of the damage, the reinforcement's condition, and how easy the structure is to reach. A free survey is how we work out the actual figure.
Why does coastal exposure speed up concrete damage?
Salt-laden air and moisture penetrate the concrete surface faster near the coast, reaching the embedded reinforcement sooner than they would inland. This accelerates corrosion, which is the most common underlying cause of spalling.
Noticed a problem like this?
From residential properties to public infrastructure like the skatepark we recently repaired, we bring the same careful diagnosis and proven repair methods to every job across Bournemouth. Coastal exposure means damage here can progress faster than properties further inland, so catching it early genuinely makes a difference.
